ANZAN (Flash Mental Math)
Add it up before it is gone.
ANZAN is MIKIRI's flash mental math game. Numbers appear one after another in the same spot, each for a fraction of a second. When the last one has gone, you type the total and press OK.
It follows the format of flash anzan, the timed mental-arithmetic drill familiar from abacus schools in Japan. You cannot write anything down or look back, so you have to keep a running total while the next number is already arriving. Each round makes one thing harder — more numbers, faster numbers or more digits — and a miss shows the full sum so you can see where it slipped.

Hoe te spelen
- Enter a username and choose ANZAN
- Watch the numbers appear one at a time
- Keep a running total in your head
- When they stop, type the total and press OK
- A wrong total costs a life and shows the full sum
Moeilijkheidsgraad
Round 1 is three 1-digit numbers at 0.9 seconds each. Round 13 (elite) is seven 1-digit numbers at 0.45 seconds, round 14 moves to 2-digit numbers, round 21 (demon) is seven 2-digit numbers at 0.35 seconds, and round 28 (beyond human) moves to 3-digit numbers. Each number stays on screen for at least 0.3 seconds, and the colour alternates so repeated values are still visible as new numbers.
Tips
- Add as each number appears; do not try to remember the list
- Say the running total to yourself, not the numbers
- With 2-digit numbers, add the tens first, then the ones
- If you lose track, keep going with your best guess — the next round is new
- Use the sum shown after a miss to see whether you dropped a number or mis-added
FAQ
- Q. Is ANZAN free?
- A. Yes. It is free, needs no signup and runs in your phone or desktop browser.
- Q. Do I need abacus training?
- A. No. The early rounds use single digits at a calm pace. Abacus users may visualise beads, but any method works.
- Q. Does the screen flash?
- A. No full-screen flashing. A number in the centre changes, and each one stays for at least 0.3 seconds.
- Q. What does the score mean?
- A. The highest round cleared. It is a game score, not an assessment of maths ability.
